I'm recovering from driving 3000 miles over 7 days in the Venice Beach branch of the Los Angeles Library. I am checking my online bank account, and it's official. I've burnt 345.43 dollars in gasolina. I like calling it gasolina because there's a song "too much gasolina" I heard on loudspeakers in Rosario, Baja California's night club district. I am certain I drove 600 miles out of my way, but when Wilbo wanders, what is one to do? Use a map? Take the superhighways only? Avoid stopping to see an old manse or read a historical marker? So those of you who like detail, I submit the following ledger for your information.
43.21 Madison Heights, Michigan
At a lackluster gas station close to my condo
47.05 Spiceland, Indiana
At a Flying J; catch a shower and a nap.
20.16 Collinsville, Illinois
Prices seemed high. Just enough to keep going.
40.79 Hillsboro, Missouri
Good shop. Motorcyclists out w/ girlfriends, eating slices.
42.72 Tulsa, Oklahoma
A QT with fresh fruit, beer and snappy staff. Best of trip.
44.02 Vega, Texas
Good bathrooms. Talk w/ farmer about desert creep.
33.35 Sante Fe, New Mexico
Giant. Almost as good as Tulsa. Well stocked cooler.
44.13 Parks, Arizona
Gas station as community center. Sit on benches and read books.
30.00 Barstow, California
