Dear Naoto Hattori;
Your painting of a woman standing in a verdant valley before a ring of mountains graces the March - April 2007 cover of Boulevard. Stopping at the corner of Laurel Canyon and Kirkwood, I picked up a copy at the general store that shares the same parking lot as Pace, and I brought it into Pace. I was going to flip through it as I enjoyed a glass of wine and took in the atmosphere.
Behind the bar, Abbey Rose was preparing for the evening's wine pouring by popping corks of her bottles of vintages served by-the-glass, but she wasn't too busy to miss being enchanted by your Valley woman with blonde tresses, luscious gown and sandals. She demanded that I tell her the name of the model. I guessed Gwyneth Paltrow, but I couldn't find confirmation on the masthead page. Abbey Rose thought I could be right, but the staff at Pace is deeply attentive to details, so she desired confirmation.
So I promised Abbey Rose that I would write to you and the magazine, and as soon as I learned more, I would pass on the knowledge to her. Is the woman a product of your imagination, or is she a woman you have known or glimpsed?
I appreciate your attention to this inquiry,
