You might want to add the following establishment to your short list for country dining spots. The French Laundry in Fenton, Michigan is a short drive from the Detroit suburbs, and the owners sponsor all kinds of French language and culture events, such as a Bastille Day run (7/14/2007) and a Maillot Jaune run (7/21/2007). Tour de Lacs in August looks good too. The food and wine is pretty good too, although lunch is mostly Zingerman's Deli fare. I guess Zingerman's ships meats, cheeses and breads by van straight up US 23 from Ann Arbor.
