Really, I though of blogging in 1987. As in, I practically invented blogging.

In the summer of 1987, I worked for a summer as a data entry operator
at a company setting up a computerized accounting system. The system
even had a network, a central data storage and five connect IBM 286
computers. I worked with a computer consultant I 'll call Melvin.
Melvin arrived to work at 10, organized the picking up of lunch and
left early. In the hours between 10 & 3, he supervised my data entry.
In the time when I waited for him to arrive, I read computer manuals.
One day, I walked into Sears and bought a single disk word processing
program. I was totally in love with the ease of erasing. No white out
required. I couldn't save any of my writing, so I would print it out
on a dot matrix printer. One day, it hit me. What if I could put my
writing where everybody could read it? Well, it took 8 years or so
before a technology emerged to make my text available throughout the
world. Now I am publishing my writing on the Internet, where everyone
can ignore it.
