Let's raise money for Westwood Youth Group to go on Mission Trip to Newport TN, @BiggbyBob

Before the story, here's a way to take action. Print off this message, and see if the folks at Biggby Coffee in Muskegon MI uses it as a coupon for the youth group fundraiser. The accountants probably need some paper to count. I am not making any money on this. It's time for my blog to pay back. Help your WanderingWilbo to do good. Now on to the story .....

Some woman or man in my office must worship at Westwood Reformed Church and drink coffee at Biggby Coffee on Henry in Muskegon, Michigan. Today, on our breakroom table, I saw this 11 X 3 inch slip of yellow paper that says the following message:

Bring this voucher to BIGGBY COFFEE, 3295 Henry Street, Muskegon, Michigan during the week of February 2nd - February 9th 2011! $1 dollar of your Full Price Drink will be donated to Westwood Youth Group to support the 2011 Mission Trip to Newport, TN.

Pulled at my heart strings in a number of ways. First, Biggby Coffee on Henry Street makes Muskegon a better place. Remember all those wonderful people putting together the Lake Michigan Art Walks, helping downtown Muskegon grow in the art world's eye. Well, two of the artists, Gary & Robert Packingham, showed their lovely paintings first at Biggby Coffee. I'm sure if we looked into it, we would see how that show at our Muskegon Biggby gave them courage and contacts for the Lake Michigan Art Walk.

I've had the pleasure of watching the Biggby Coffee staff plunge into cold water to raise funds for our Special Olympics. All that time creating hot drinks, and they all go plunging into hot water with hats made out of Biggby Cups. I'm glad strong men in scuba suits were right by to pour those brave barristas out fast. Why not buy your hot drinks from people who are willing to jump into frigid cold Lake Muskegon to help our community be stronger? The Special Olympics is more than a once a year concern for our Muskegon Biggby Coffee. Our Biggby employs a job coach and her coachees to clean around the store, and these coachees really benefit from an opportunity to work with help of a coach.

I was just driving through Newport, Tennessee Sunday morning, and I'm thinking the citizens of Newport are looking forward to a visit from citizens of Muskegon, and I'm betting the citizens of Muskegon will be bringing pounds of Biggby. You see the citizens of Newport are well within the loving arms of God. They are, alas, far beyond the reach of Biggby. You can change this..

Let's make sure McDonald's doesn't turn sales downward at our Biggby Coffee during the first two weeks of February when the hamburger chain is giving away free coffee. I like McDonald's, again, and I like what they do for charity too. However, I really do enjoy my chats with Biggby Coffee's staff, the free wireless, the CNN on the high definition television and the mix of people who come wandering through that door. I've actually lost a Biggby Coffee, the one I really loved on Woodward Boulevard in Royal Oak, Michigan. It was my first Biggby! People of Muskegon can vote with their dollars the first two weeks in February, don't you think? Trust me, we can't afford to lose our Biggby. Imagine staring at that brick building and knowing you can't get great coffee there anymore.

Thanks, WanderingWilbo and Wandering Acts of Kindness.
