Memo to @RobertaFKing, my dear friend & fellow citizen journalist who rhymed PASTY WITH NASTY!

Dear Roberta,

I dearly appreciate your kindly words to help me upgrade my image and overcome my wandering issue. If I avoid my inevitable stay at Mel Trotters, it will be due to your words of guidance. Despite the fact that you didn't intuit who I was when I engaged you in conversation at Reserve Grand Rapids, I feel more rooted in this community of Muskegon knowing that you and I share it together. In fact, I am given to deep laughter, private and confidential, every time I visit West Side Inn and behold the owner's smiling mug. All that is wonderful, and so I wish to gently submit to you this excerpt from Michael Moore's (@MMFlint) email, supporting the State Theater of Traverse City, Michigan. I have bolded the relevant text.

Thanks for sending Captain Art Walk an invitation to learn citizen journalism at the Rapidian. I was wandering so the Captain missed the meeting.

PRINCE WILLIAM TIES THE KNOT
The Royal Wedding
Friday, April 29, 4-11 am
The State Theatre's first 4 am show is sold out, and hundreds of northern Michiganders are preparing to watch the heir to the British throne, Prince William, wed the lovely Catherine Middleton. The pomp and circumstance live from Westminster Abbey will begin at 4 am (doors open at 3:45 am). Uniforms, morning coats or lounge suits, please -- and every English lady wears a hat to a wedding. Everyone who dresses up will be entered into a raffle to win one of two beautiful prizes donated by Becky Thatcher Designs: a tiara and a freshwater pearl necklace. Each wedding guest will receive a piece of an authentically prepared Prince William groom's cake, served with a monogrammed napkin. We'll offer coffee, tea, juice, and our own secret recipe alcohol-free Mimosas, plus a variety of both English and Irish scones (including currant scones), canape-sized Cornish Pasties from Cousin Jenny's, just like those the Queen will be eating at Buckingham, along with our normal refreshments. Wedding gifts are welcome -- they will be given to area shelters. If there are any seats available when the wedding starts at 5:30 am, we'll do our best to seat a standby line. Ticket holders are asked to arrive no later than 5:15 am.

Traverse City is home to the State Theater:

Pasty almost rhymes with Hasty, which might be applied to a previous comment of yours:

Pasties Belong on the Splendid Table, the Queen's splendid table at Buckingham or Roberta's splendid table near Lake Muskegon:

Eat at Mel's Diner, if you need a decent square to get on your feet.

Ride the Rapid, Read the Rapidian, and be a Grand Rapidzen

A lesson from the Cornish Pasty Association. Cooking up a batch might be perceived as a peace offering. Bring one to Rob over at West Side, wrapped in a kitchen towel, the way Cornish miners in the Copper Country of the Upper Peninsula did. The Finns liked their style and so began making them too. Culinary cultural transfer is a beautiful process, even when it occurs half a mile below ground.

The Cornish Pasty has protected status in the United Kingdom. So don't be picking on them. Unless you're picking on their delectable, flaky crust:
