George Dila on how to be a Detroit Snob. Report on a big night at Lido Gallery, Birmingham, MI.

Dear Motown friends

What fun we had last Monday night at the Springfed Arts/Lido Gallery reading in Birmingham. The place was filled with Michigan writing power! Wish I could name all the names. And even the amazing Con Hilberry came all the way from K'zoo, with Andy Mozina. What a treat! When I saw them walk in the door my mouth fell open. John's songs were great, Des Cooper gave a fine prose reading and showed off her new Detroit Snob shirt - very cool. I dare not insert one of the pictures from their website because they are copyrighted, but check out the website yourself. I'm buyin' one. http://detroitsnob.wordpress.com/  Phillip Sterling read from his new story collection - a very delightful and intriguing story called The Small Bridge. http://wsupress.wayne.edu/books/1268/In-Which-Brief-Stories-Are-Told  I read from my new collection from Mayapple Press - Nothing More to Tell - and sang a few bars myself.  http://www.mayapplepress.com/  Diane has a wonderful art gallery and gift store - worth a visit. http://www.everythingart.com/

Hope to pay another visit soon,

George Dila
