A limo of Syracuse fans made a pit stop here to refresh themselves, on the way up to their university for a big Monday night game. Summer 2007, I stopped here on an endless drive back from Norfolk VA, where I was consulting at an internet marketing company. Three people were crouched down on the sidewalk, sketching the hill ridge to the west. I lost the daylight on the way to Buffalo. The next day, I picked up my daughter in Waterford and took her out to our farm for her grandmother's birthday. And after dropping her off in Waterford again, I rallied to Norfolk again, going south of Lake Erie, Ohio Turnpike to Pennsylvania turnpike to Maryland that time. It was all summer in a day that summer for my daughter and I. It was the only time I saw here that summer. By November, I was back in Michigan and back on a regular schedule of visits with her. And that's the way its maintained for four years now. Still, I feel the road owns me. I have quite a length of road before me still. I hear freezing rain could appear after nine.
