Bring in the autumn with a barn dance in Charlevoix, @PureMichigan; the Dhaseleer Events barn hosts Switchback and Horton Creek. Horton Creek is from Horton Bay, too?

When an appealing poster crosses my desk, I like to send it along. Isn't it time for all of us to go to a genuine barn dance? I hope some hard cider is served, and not hot mulled hard cider!

(Charlevoix, MI)--A Harvest Moon Dance will be held at Dhaseleer's Events Barn, located at 15794 Paddock Road in Charlevoix on Friday, September 28, beginning at 8 p.m. Local favorites the Horton Creek Band will open for the award-winning band Switchback. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door and can be purchased at the Charlevoix Chamber of Commerce or by calling 231-675-7768. BBQ food available for purchase during the event.

"We are looking forward to having an old time Harvest Moon Dance," says Brian FitzGerald of the band Switchback. "The moon will be nearly full on September 28th, so we should be able to enjoy a beautiful evening both outside and inside the barn. The Dhaseleer's Events Barn has amazing charm that is very conducive to a night of beautiful dance music. It's a great way to welcome in the Fall."

Switchback will be featuring its trio that includes percussionist Nick Hirka. Both Brian FitzGerald and Martin McCormack are no strangers to northern Michigan, playing sold out concerts and benefits throughout the region. They have been voted as the top performing act by the Irish Music Association and have two concerts featured on PBS stations throughout the US.

Carl Dhaseleer, owner of the events barn along with his wife Cornelia, is excited about the evening's line up. "We are pleased that Switchback is able to join us for this dance. Most people have seen Switchback at our Black Cat Concerts and are familiar with their music. It is always hard to keep people from dancing to their music during their concerts, so we decided to create a dance in our historic barn. Switchback can provide rousing dance music, and those who have seen them at the Grass River Benefit will know that this is an evening not to miss."

Local heroes Horton Creek will open the evening for Switchback. A simple country/bluegrass band formed out of Charlevoix County, Horton Creek began as a one-gig get-together to fill a spot in a show and it went so well the clan decided to give it a run. Horton Creek's motto is "Our hopes are high, the bass is low, and of course, the grass is blue."
