Wow, I've always wanted to pass some time along the Clam Lake Channel, contemplating career moves & the future in general. Took a swim in Mitchell Lake and wished I hadn't. The water has a fishy smell quite unlike any Michigan lake of my recent experience. Chalk it up on the list of Areas of Quality concern. Guessing it's too much nutrients from lawns and septic tanks that causes that unpleasant smell & encourages bad bacteria. — at Mitchell State Park.
