Mile 12119: Dropping by Greek Tony's to pick up information on Melching's purchase of Sappi Paper Mill. Muskegon MI.

The old paper mill has a deep water port and a power plant. It is available as a commercial property as well as an industrial site. I hear all the paper mill equipment has moved to purchasers elsewhere. I'm just wondering how we can unleash waterfront views and naturalize the site, which looks like an Italian Futurist painting with hints of a light security prison. The brick office building has promise; I love trying to guess the age of those bricks. Could the bricks be 100 years old? I watched the demolition of Lift-Tech morning after morning and I kept wishing for preservation of the brick offices. The wrecking equipment seemed to spare it. That building had possibility. Look what Watermark made happen, turning Shaw Walker offices into condominiums. Muskegon continues its transition into a greener future, but let us think about keeping the old brick. My favorite old brick renovation saved an old boilermaker campus, now the vibrant Art Works lofts.
