The Musical Fountain across Grand River from downtown Grand Haven MI is an anachronism. Mile 12228.

My cellphone camera is lousy in dark light. The Musical Fountain has entertained summers since 1962. Now, the musical fountain competes with music in the bars and iPhones rocking Pandora. I walked down to Waterfront Stadium and noticed about 100 people in the stands. Boats in the channel held position before the foot of Dewey Hill, the fountain's cradle. So it's not dead yet. It's also a crucial part of the Coast Guard fireworks; the fireworks explode in coordination with the music. The speakers also announce the fireworks too. The fountain keepers will be working around the year to take it up a notch and keel it current. I have wondered if a live band could work with a preprogrammed fountain show? Good minds are working on ideas right now.
