This is recovered habitat at Grand Trunk Docks; impressive growth of cattails, arrowroot this summer. Muskegon MI, Mile 12194

I am wondering. This is the second full summer after the wildlife restoration at Grand Trunk docks? I was a bit cynical watching all the digging and sifting and dirt trucking away, but it's a gorgeous as a Monet lily pond this year. I see no signs of spoilers such as purple loosestrife. I haven't noticed animals or fish making use of the naturalized areas, but I'll keep an eye out. Now if we can remove an annoying strain of algae in the water: it streaks the water like undissolved gunpowder tea. It makes duck weed look pitiful by comparison. This green gunpowder algae taints all our marina waters this summer.
