Mile 12323: As I dine at G&L Chili Dog, I reflect upon the legend of Chuck Peliotes, Muskegon MI man of commerce.

OK, this is a job for our local Muskegon historians. All I have is a story told to me by a man who knew the owner of G&L, a man who once claimed to have employed the owner after the G&L buyout. The fellow from the Old Homestead had a business  renovating homes and landscaping. Back in the Sixties & Seventies, Muskegon boomed, having plenty of work and all kinds of opportunity. So G&L had a steady stream of customers. Men weren't allowed to take up tables at G&L. Open up a newspaper and the owner would chase you out. It sounds as if every order arrived to go for a guy at the G&L. Now, this is my interpretation. Chuck Peliotes is given as the new owner of G&L in 1960. He introduces french fries in that year. So it is safe to assume that five years later, it is Peliotes who invents the Greek Special, two Chili Dogs and a side of fries. So, my Muskegon mavens, has any one been chased out of here? I don't know if man of Muskegon radio Cowboy Cliff reads this blog, but he would surely know. I definately know, like all of us, he reads Veda and the writers from Muskegon Comical. He once delivered decent sermons over at Lighthouse Chapel, now Bluffton Church, a fine man with superb diction, erudition, and a spellbinding way of talking. I wonder if he drops by to hear Hugh Kallen sharing from the pulpit? I see Cliff's occasional article in the Senior bulletin, reminding me I have something to look forward to in my sixties. Not just writing for the bulletin but playing pickle ball at the center. Sigh, rather wish the owner would shoo me out of here today. I have stuff to do before this evening's festivities. Spartan football kicking off within the hour.
