The Big Buck contest proceeds slowly at general store, Walkerville MI, Mile 13092

It is only bow season and only two dead stags are posted on the orange big buck banner from Budweiser. One buck had prongs. One buck had three or four points. The Polaroids are posed the same, the victorious hunter in the bed of his pickup truck, holding up the head of his stag by the horns, the nose poking into the air just beyond the tailgate. She has to see the buck, the tag, the wound. No roadkill will be entered in this big buck contest, now in the bow season phase. A polaroid of a buck with a well developed rack is below the banner. That hunter took the Fifteen pointer into the processor before reporting to the store. So it is disqualified. Anyone can fob around a picture.

Last night on East bound 96 near Portland, I encountered a fresh slick of deer blood in the passing lane, a rib cage right in the center of the lane. I had no chance to manuever around it and I heard it thus twice as the bones took a shot at my undercarriage. I have driveability and have no notice of blood, oil, brake fluid or coolant where I have parked. I am certain I witnessed balls and tears of fur.
