Dear friend,
I got your direct message. I don't have my smartphone with me or I would add your moniker to the title to specially address it. The key is to get down by the water for dinner because our waterfronts are exceptionally beautiful this year. I think it's a combination of the mist in the air and the chop from the remarkable breeziness. Might I encourage you to drive up to Lake Muskegon
and visit the Lake House. For the combination of culinary excellence and water front real estate, the Lake House takes it for me. Situated on the east side of the lake, the view commands the full reach of Lake Muskegon and visibility allows one to pick out the channel and the dunes of Muskegon State Park to the north of channel. Fricano's commands an excellent view of Lake Muskegon too, but Fricano's serves only their famous pizzas, one size fits all. Dockers is good too, especially with this year's renewed focus on the menu and the staff's dedication to providing a Tiki bar experience every weekend night. Here's the best recommendation for Dockers I can give. When my ex-wife arrives in town once or twice a summer, I give her a gift certificate for Dockers and I go to the Lake House. The several miles of Lake Muskegon reach allows us to share Muskegon swimmingly. At Dockers, the summer music line up is almost as good as SoundFest at Val Du Lakes this weekend, although SoundFest gives you all the bands in a single weekend.
Before I continue, I am an anonymous character and thus I can recieve no consideration for shilling. In other words, my shill doesn't pay my bills. I love the Harbor Restaurant for beverages and entertainment. The entertainment is legendary, as good as walking a main street in Nashville or Memphis, although on a smaller scale. I believe you will have an enjoyable meal or the staff will go to the ends of the earth to make it up to you. However, I have yet to "find myself" on the menu the way I can easily "find myself" on the menu of the Hearthstone Bistro or The Lake House. Still, Jelly's is the best place from which to dine and enjoy the musical fountain, from the outdoor deck or the indoor interior decorated in Zen style and fish tanks.
I have always enjoyed the supper club atmosphere at the Bil-Mar. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I have heard the Bil-Mar is as close as you'll get to Lake Michigan when dining. It's surrounded by sandy beach or sandy dune. Cell phone reception is laughable. The owner is a former mayor of Grand Haven, Michigan, and his people reading skills are astouding. He had my four year plan worked out in five minutes, and it didn't feel creepy. But charming. Walls are decorated with Great Lakes nautical charts and artifacts without looking too campy. When I dine on prime rib, I compare it automatically to the miraculously tender prime rib at the Bil-Mar. This is a little out past the pier, so be sure to get directions before trying to find it. It has an outdoor deck and a single all-weather palm tree.
Please let me know what you chose for your wife and you. Cheers

Jelly's commands a 190 degree view of the Grand River estuary.
Once more to the Lake?
Great view with a very, very focused menu. You can have whatever you want as long as its pizza.
Docker's Fish House is serving up fresh, flown in oysters on the Tiki deck:

One thing Kathleen and I love about Dockers is the view, not just of the lake in the distance but the sailboats and motorboats docked all around. For eight or nine dollars you can split a plate of nachos and just take in the wonderful lake surroundings from dune height.
