Mile 16858: It's fifty degrees Fahrenheit in Roosevelt Park MI.

Muskegon Chronicle speculates that February will bring freezing temperatures and plentiful snow from the cold and open waters of Lake Michigan. Open water means more water vapor to feed the lake effect snow? I am wondering if we'll ever descend into the torpor of a true West Michigan winter. Over in Eastern Europe, Ukraine foremost, a cold snap has caused significant deaths across the country. I am no weather man, but it looks as if warm gulf air is pushing up into Michigan and pushing our cold air over the north pole into Eastern Europe. I am hoping no one is thinking of cutting off the gas pipelines into Ukraine this year. I wondering if we should be sending money to Ukraine to compensate the people for accepting all of our cold air. Speaking about looking down the calendar for effects, are we looking at a colder spring because we haven't exhausted our climate's cold budget. Or are we looking at an insanely hot spring and summer because the lake is warmer and the gulf will only grow hotter during May through November. I am thinking of swimming more this Spring in any case.
