Defending Wilboterria, a helicopter stands guard in Norton Shores MI. MILE 12882.

To be precise and honorable, the helicopter is centerpiece of the Vietnam War memorial and is an artifact of that conflict. The local Veterans have entitled it Final Approach, and the helicopter approaches a commemorative ideal that never can be attained. It will never land and we will never truly comprehend the sacrifice and struggles of our Vietnam servicemen. The vets have attained a beautiful site that reminds me of Stonehenge. A picnic pavilion added one or two years ago rounds out the site.
